26. Congratulations - The first EAWRD Meeting is Complete East Africa WRD 18:17 Thu Mar 23/23 35 lines As an introductory item, I would like to inform everyone that the first EAWRD board meeting was complete and the organizing infrastructure is complete and with their marching orders. All twelve board members were present. There are three each from the provinces of Ethiopia, Kenya and Victoria and three from the IFG. The main order of business was to appoint the consulting firm Arusha Group to develop the organizational structure for the EAWRD. They will develop this plan, then, after board approval, it will be implemented. This plan is to set up the various departments and org charts and to create a map of personnel that will be needed. Once the plan is approved, people can be hired, facilities leased and design work for the canals, water tunnels, reservoirs and the cold fusion desalinization plants can commence. Then, on to construction. The board unanimously appoved the appointment of Arusha Group and directed the crafting of the contract with them (its almost ready anyways). Once finished, it will be voted on by the Board and the work can be done. As the contract is almost done, the Board gave the legal team 1 more month to complete it and finish working out details with Arusha Group, at which time it will be presented to the Board. This forum will be a place where updates about the EAWRD will be posted, including Board meetings and actions. |

There are a huge number of folks working on planning day and night (well, at least during working hours). They will get paid for their work retroactivly when the structures are set up. There are several tracks of work 1. The organizational stuff - AG (Arusha Group) will formalize everything, but some of the structure is already laid out and they will just adopt a lot of that. 2. Engineering - the real work. Plans for the desalinization plants, water tunnels, aqueducts, reservoirs and irrigation channels alreay exist in piecemeal form as folks have been designing these for years in hopes of some sort of grand plan / district to implement them. These are piecemeal, but a lot if the detail exists in bits and pieces, so there is not as much work as folks think. So, while it may look like they have nothing, this is far from the truth. Once the formal stuff is done, you will see things move much faster than might be obvious from the outside world. |
