So, The Fourth Month of the Year. Time - PLEASE SLOW DOWN :-)

April - we may start to see some leaves come out by the end of the
month. I call this month the day-glow green vs brown month. The
grass starts to grow and has the wierd bright green color, yet the
trees are still stuck in their "brown" mode - branches only, no
leaves yet.

Tulip licks start to come out by April 1st. In fact, the park near
me had them coming out already, but they are flat and sickly
because of the cold snap we had last weekend.

Easter is on Sunday the 9th. For those who wonder how Western
Easter is determined - the following formula is used to determine
when it occurs each year:

1. Find the first full moon that occurs after the date of
the vernal equinox.

2. Find the first Sunday that occurs after this full moon -
That is Easter Sunday in Western Christendom.

(Not sure of how to determine Orthodox Easter - someone else
can enlighten us).

Also this month, Earth Day occurs on April 22. I remember a
humerous situation in my old neighborhood that occured one Earth
Day when the environmental groups suggested that everyone turn off
all of their lights and electrical appliances for one hour (I think
it was 7pm) on Earth Day to protest fossil fuels.

My neighbor was quite a smart-ass and a right winger. He put up all
of his Christmas decorations and at 7pm, he turned them all on and
lit up every lite in his house. This aggravated all of my woke
neighbors, but that was his intention :-)

Notable Birthdays in April:

Marvin Gaye, April 2, 1939.
Jane Goodall, April 3, 1934.
Jackie Chan, April 7, 1954.
Dolores Huerta, April 10, 1930.
Emma Watson, April 15, 1990.
Leonardo da Vinci, April 15, 1452.
Charlie Chaplin, April 16, 1889.
Jack Nicholson, April 22, 1937.

Notable April events in history:

America's first astronauts were announced by NASA on April 9, 1959.
The first Webster Dictionary was copyrighted by Noah Webster on
April 14, 1828. The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912. The
Revolutionary War in America began on April 19, 1775.

While bumblebees may not be the first insect you see in the
spring, its likely the first that you hear. The buzz starts some
hushed morning over snow-bent grass or sun-washed earth split by
swelling bulbs.

The bumblebees are fertilized queens - sole survivors from last
autumn. The flight of each is slow and purposful, not wild and
erratic as in the operatic score "Flight of the Bumblebee".

The queen is searching for a nest site - perhaps an abandoned
chipmunk burrow, which she'll stuff with grass and moss. Next,
she'll make a thimble-sized wax pot and fill it with nectar.
Next, she'll knead pollen and nectar into "bee bread". The nectar
will sustain her while she's brooding. Larvae will eat the
"bread".

The bumblebee's fur allows her to live in colder climates than
most other insects. One species, Bombus Polaris, has been spotted
62 miles from the North Pole.

North Americans are fond of bumblebees. They're harbingers of
fair weather, resemble winged teddy bears, and are so
good-natured that getting one to sting you is a major
undertaking. But most important, they're ours. Unlike honeybees,
they're natives.

27/2. John Palmer 09:18 Sat Apr 1/23 17 lines

Thanks for that bit of info, Elizabeth. I didn't know
that bumblebees were native to the US.

One candy that I don't see on the list is the Brauchs
squish rabbits that come in yellow, purple and orange.

You can't find those that much anymore.

As for the weather, we had a tornado in a far suburb of
Chicago called Belvedere - it collapsed the roof of a
theatre where a bunch of people were watching a concert.

One person dead. I'm sure the climate change freaks
will blame a commonplace event on humans, somehow, but
what's new/

Anyways - welcome April!

27/3. John Palmer 09:45 Sat Apr 1/23 26 lines

A new survey reveals that 77% of people intend to buy Easter candy.

Other findings:

Top Easter Candy

1 Cadbury Creme Eggs

2 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

3 Starburst Easter Jelly Beans

4 Cadbury Chocolate Eggs

5 Hershey Kisses

6 M&M's milk chocolate candy

7 Lindt Chocolate Bunny

8 Brach's Jelly Bird Eggs

9 peeps

10 Hershey's milk chocolate candy eggs

What does April bring? Lets see - near the end
of the month I make my first trip up I-94 and
over the Blue Water Bridge into Canada and St.
Joseph, Ontario where I have a cottage on the
lake.

Make no mistake, this isn't a leisure trip, but
a neccessity. I have to clean up all of the dead
mice and their droppings. They come inside to make
nests and keep warm. Also usually have to deal with
at least one broken pipe. I had the plumbers
put in all plastic/PVC pipes - easier (and cheaper)
to replace. You can cut out the bad section and use
couplers to fix. I've even done a few myself.

Doing this chore asap makes for less work when I
(or folks that I allow to use the cottage) come
up for actual relaxation.

Gotta wait till the very end, as they can still
get snow up there.

Anybody watch "Rescue 401", the tow truck reality
show? Those guys operate on the very highways I
ride on. I know the area well and can spot familiar
landmarks when watching the show.

27/5. John Palmer 11:00 Sat Apr 1/23 4 lines

And as one of the people that you have allowed
to enjoy the Lake Huron sunsets, I appreciate it.

Let me know if you need some help with the chores.

27/6. Lambert Kees 13:21 Sun Apr 2/23 5 lines

Well, here in Norway, its still very cold and
we don't get to see springtime till 15th May
at least, or sometimes later. All I can do is
listen to you talk of flowers coming out and will
look forward to this happening in my backyard.

27/7. John Palmer 20:44 Thu Apr 6/23 6 lines

Heading back to MI for Easter with the family on
Sat morning. I like long drives. Relaxing. Not
traffic (Like on US-131 south of Cadillac on a
holiday weekend).

Weather is going to be nice for the weekend.

27/8. Lucky Kentucky 13:58 Fri Apr 7/23 3 lines

You guys should come down to see the blossoms along
the West KY Pkwy in about a month. That is, when we
aren't getting pounded with one tornado after another.

27/9. John Palmer 15:50 Fri Apr 7/23 3 lines

Was down there once in the summer - heading to Paducah
to pick up a load of Dippin'Dots ice cream - the started
in Paducah.

27/10. John Palmer 08:16 Tue Apr 11/23 11 lines

So, how was everyone's Easter?

I was back in town. My brother's in-laws own a
banquet hall and they had a magnificent Easter brunch.

Got to see a lot of family and old friends. Thats always
nice.

Now, I think the next big day this month is Earth Day
on April 22. Gotta get my Christmas decs out (like
Siobhan's neighbor) :-)

27/11. Siobhan Medbhb O'Roarke 13:10 Tue Apr 11/23 5 lines

Moved away from that area, but it was amusing to
see him yank chains.

What's the weather like in Chi-town? Its in the 70's
here.

27/12. John Palmer 07:35 Wed Apr 12/23 4 lines

It will be in the 70's thru Saturday and then
will crash into the mid 40's for Sun into next
week. Probably similar to what is coming for
Detroit.

27/13. Paul O'Leary 07:59 Wed Apr 12/23 9 lines

Went to a wiccan vernal ritual being held aty
Stoney Creek Metropark on "Easter". Both a proper
celebration and a middle finger to "christians" who
did nothing but oppress and abuse mostly people of
color throughout history.

It was chillier than I thought it would be, but
the sun was out. All in all, a nice day. Finished
it off with Pad Thai and tofu.

27/14. John Palmer 12:27 Wed Apr 12/23 2 lines

It was indeed sunny on Easter in SCS, but it was
colder than I thought it would be, I agree.

27/15. L L L Lopez 19:23 Wed Apr 12/23 1 line

Nice and sunny in Mexicali

27/16. John Palmer 19:48 Wed Apr 12/23 4 lines

No thanks - I like places where the seasons change.

There are nice things about beaches and warm weather.
Nice to visit, but I like my snow and cool fall days.

27/17. Lucien Hoydic 21:02 Wed Apr 12/23 5 lines

HALO all - Lucien Hoydic originally from
Slovakia. I heard that someone named Nemecke is
on here - I am in Illinois, I think Tomas is in
Pennsylvania. Glad to be here, mostly to discuss
Opus Dei matters.

27/18. Tom Stevenson 19:56 Thu Apr 13/23 8 lines

Hi Lucien - Thanks for the work on the Opus_Dei
conference.

I live near the lake and its this time of year
that the sky above the lake changes from its steel
blue winter color to the bright sapphire color that
will be here all summer and into the fall. Its a sure
sign of spring.

27/19. Lucien Hoydic 08:42 Fri Apr 14/23 1 line

No problem! New daily text about to be posted.

27/20. Village of Lame Deer, Montana 22:40 Sun Apr 16/23 2 lines

HA - We got snow up here in Big Sky country till
at least May. Have seen snow into June as well.

27/21. John Palmer 10:03 Tue Apr 18/23 5 lines

So what are folks going to do for Earth Day (besides
annoying green neighbors with xmas lites)? I may just
hang out by the river in Chicago on the River Walk, that
is a long as the "youts" aren't rampaging again. They
usually don't do that during the day, though.

27/22. Lucien Hoydic 10:45 Thu Apr 20/23 (revised) 7 lines

Contemplate that He gave us the resources in this
world for our benefit and while we need to be good
stewards of them, it is insulting to disrespect His
Gift by claiming that use of them at his command is
wrong. That goes for fossil fuels and eating meat,
which is specifically mentioned in The Bible as not
only allowed, but encouraged.

27/23. Flash Mack (ZOOOOOOM! - KZAAAA!) 10:57 Thu Apr 20/23 6 lines

Running a 5k here near Sarasota. I'm fast - but
actually there are some folks who are faster - I
have only managed to come in 3rd after trying
4 times. Lets see if 5 is the lucky number.

ZOOOOOOOOOOOM!!! (Sorry Lee, I know that scares you)

27/24. Dawn Endico 01:30 Mon Apr 24/23 10 lines

I spend Earth Day getting my gardening supplies
for the season. Was at the garden center - got flowers
and tomato seedlings and seeds for carrots, raddishes,
basil and oregano.

Also, potting soil and ferilizer for the garden.

Too cold to work outside - looks like we have 10 days
left of the cold weather than, perhaps that will be it
till the fall.

27/26. John Palmer 22:00 Mon Apr 24/23 (revised) 22 lines

Speaking of plants, the tomato plants are about an inch and
a half tall. I have to cull some of them as there are too
many of them.

A sad note though - looks like the last of my scraggly
poinettias is about done for. I had one from 2013 and it
dropped all its leaves and kicked the bucket about a month
ago. The other one, from 2014 and or 2015 is about to suffer
the same fate.

Thats not bad though - 8.5 and 9.5 years.

I had a cheap grocery store plant that I got last Christmas
and it didn't even keep its leaves and bracts till New
Year's Day. I went to Austin on 12/22 and when I got back on
the 26th, half the leaves wre off.

I think I'll get better ones next year. Its kind of hard to
tell the quality and where they've been before they get to
the store.

27/27. Victor Davis Hanson 19:27 Tue Apr 25/23 11 lines

Don't talk to me about bees and wasps. I ended
up in the hospital just this month after being
stung.

I have my epi-pen now that it appears that age
has made me allergic (or long COVID). I got
stung so many times in my youth working out on
the farm. A lot of time we were tending to things
while the almond and peach trees were blooming and
of course that attracted a lot of bees (good thing -
they are needed).

27/28. Rupert Larkins 11:08 Thu Apr 27/23 1 line

Hope Mijja is awake - he arrives in 4 days!

27/29. Siobhan Medbhb O'Roarke 11:12 Thu Apr 27/23 2 lines

I'm sure he is up and has been for some time, getting
ready for his duties to shepherd us through The Core.

27/30. John Palmer 12:22 Thu Apr 27/23 6 lines

He will be happy at the state of the trees
here - the leaves came out over two weeks ago
in spite of the fact that it has been cold.

He'll be sad at my dead poinsettias but happy
with the tomatos...

27/31. The Brinx 20:36 Fri Apr 28/23 3 lines

Here in NoCal, we are literally drowning! Too
much snow. The only good thing is that the reservoirs
and aquifers will be fully replenished.

27/32. John Palmer 14:10 Sat Apr 29/23 2 lines

Do you live anywhere near VDH? I think you
are probably north of him. He is in Selma.

27/33. Siobhan Medbhb O'Roarke 14:11 Sat Apr 29/23 4 lines

Get your April remembrances, musings, discussions
in to this item in the next few days as it will be
locked on May 1st and a new monthly item will be
created.

27/34. Doris Allen 14:30 Sat Apr 29/23 21 lines

138 mice. Thats how many I cleaned up in the cabin
when I went up there. Also had to get the Pine Sol
out and disinfect the floor since they pee all over
the floor. They didn't get into any drawers or other
stuff.

I put boxes with old newspapers in the middle of the
floor so they would nest in there rather than look for
other places and it seemed to work. I was up there from
Fri morning 4/21 though Sunday early afternoon, so about
three days. They should be gone for the season as its
warm enough for them outside.

Have some friends coming up to use the place during
Memorial Day weekend. I'll stay up there the weekend
before to make sure things are in order.

The leaves are out all over the place and saw many
flowering trees after I got off the 401 onto the
side roads up to St. Joseph. They have a lot of orchards
there so lots of blossoms this time of year.

27/35. Siobhan Medbhb O'Roarke 18:09 Sun Apr 30/23 11 lines

The flowering tree here bloomed right around
Easter, or shortly thereafter during that warm
week of weather.

Sounds like you are ready for nice beach wether,
although that may be about 6 weeks away, especially
Lake Huron.

6 hours to go to tell us how your April went. Any
takers. We need a text chain to get people to jump
in!

27/36. Jifma . 18:22 Sun Apr 30/23 50 lines

Well, Its my last evening here with you all. I
hope we have all put away all things 2-0-2-2 and
are fully engaged in the new year. If so, then
I have done my job.

I like the ability to talk with everyone using a
simple system of text like this. This format
eliminates some of the noise and gets you down
to the meaning of words .

It was a nice start to the year. Not too many disasters,
and for the Great Lakes area, pretty good weather.

We didn't have any major snowstorms in the area in
which most of you live, and for those of you Spirit
People (Lee, The Brinx, etc), you don't care as much
about the weather anyways..

Soon he will be here in his green Peter Pan getup. You
know who I am talking about - MIJJA.

I know JP created an ID for him and I'll leave him is
ID and password in my notes to him. Maybe he'll jump
on.

One note of advice for those who don't pay as much attention
to him - he *HATES* people talking about the past year
or overshooting and talking about next year. He thinks
you should be HERE NOW. In a way, he is correct. People DO
spend too much time in the past, worrying about the
future and not enough time in the here and now.

I think he'll like the progress of the foliage - he likes
his green, but he may be disappointed in the cold
forecast for the next two weeks.

This will be my last post till my next time, so till then,
be happy and autentic.

When they gather once again in Times Square to watch the
ball drop, I will arrive once again in a blinding flash (tm)
to help the world enter 2-0-2-4.

We'll suffer together all of the politics of the primary
season and observe how the Deep State will keep us from
making a proper choice, but we'll deal with that when we
get to it.

Till then, be fully in 2-0-2-3. I have prepared you and
I think you are more than ready.

27/37. Lucien Hoydic 18:29 Sun Apr 30/23 16 lines

Enjoy your rest. You are one of God's Angels of
Time, helping us appreciatate the gift of the changing
seasons and helping us with transitions and acceptance
of our mortality and of the gifts He gives us.

I look forward to that festive eveing that will arrive
8 months henceforth when you will once again return.

With His Help, our world will heal. He may even inspire
a wave of goodness amongst our leaders.

This world is so very, very fallen these days. It takes
Angels and godly folk, with His Help, to heal it. I have
confidence that the victory of Good and Holy will return.

He promises us this, and He always keeps his promise.

27/38. John Palmer 19:05 Sun Apr 30/23 7 lines

Yes Jifma - you have done your job well. I never
think of 2022 anymore (since I finished my taxes).

Mijja's ID is active so lets see if he joins us
here.

Rest well my friend.

27/39. Siobhan Medbhb O'Roarke 00:06 Mon May 1/23 3 lines

April is now passed. Jifma is now resting till
New Years and Mijja has arrived. This item is now
locked.
