Opus Dei is a strong advocate of traditional Catholic
values, focusing particularly on spreading the Catholic
teaching that every individual is called to become a
saint and an apostle of Jesus Christ and that ordinary
life is a path to sanctity.

Hello All from Chicago

I'm Paul Clemente - youth outreach director for
Opus Dei Chicago.

My mission is to bring the philosophy to Opus Dei -
that is - to live each day in Christ as an example
for others and to heal the very, very fallen world
in which we live.

I come to you from a place bathed in blood and violence

This is due to kids who have no hope and see no way
out. They have never known a time in their life
when their communities, their nation and the world
worked the right way.

They see dishonest, corrupt leaders acting like
children, their peers engaging in selfish, short
term acts.

No one teaches them about the meaning derived from
hard work and sacrifice for others, and for their
future selves.

We have had a number of successes. This is what
keeps me going. Just gently, quietly trying to live
a Holy Life and teaching others how to do this and
the benefits of this mode of living as well.

I look forward to sharing with you some lessons and
thoughts from what is sometimes a very brutal, violent
environment.
