Welcome to the RulesForLife *Forum conference. I hope that those
who like the retro forums will find this conference useful. One
nice thing about the retro fora is that they make you focus on the
text without the distraction of flashy graphics. Words, by
themselves convey deep meaning and we sometimes lose sight of idea
when distracted by too much visual and auditory stimulation.

This conference can be used to discuss any of the rules for life
and to share your experiences with others who are joining you on
the journey to transform your life into a meaningful endeavour.

To begin - let me start with a list of the original twelve rules
for life:

1 Stand up straight with your shoulders back.

2. Treat yourself like you are someone you are responsible
for helping.

3. Make friends with people who want the best for you.

4. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who
someone else is today.

5. Do not let your children do anything that makes you
dislike them.

6. Set your house in perfect order before you criticize
the world.

7. Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient).

8. Tell the truth or, at least, don't lie.

9. Assume that the person you are listening to might
know something you don't.

10. Be precise in your speech.

11. Do not bother children while they are skateboarding.

12. Pet a cat when you encounter one in the street.

13. Don't betray the person you promised to stay
with for life, especially if the other guy is a
skinny, barely alive, sad example of his species.

Hi Jordan - nice to see (talk) to you again. You're
quite the celebrity, eh? Nice to see a hometown boy
do well.

Rule 14: Don't walk home from the bar drunk, in the
middle of the night in northern AB in January - you
will become a drunksicle and they will find you in
a snow bank the next day. Almost did that a few times
but I stopped that habit long time ago - much to my
benefit.
